On June 1st 1921 an innocent city was bombed and burned to the ground out of spite and jealousy. Over 3000 African Americans were found dead and 9000 were left homeless. It has been reported that 21 churches, 21 restaurants, 30 grocery stores, 2 movie theaters, a hospital, a bank, post offices, libraries, schools, law offices and half a dozen private airports and bus systems were burned down and destroyed. Within only 12 hours, after all the dust and soot had settled over 600 businesses were no more. Researchers report that the tragic events in Tulsa involved help from local whites, the KKK and the coast guard.
